Privacy
Effective November 2, 2026
This page explains, in plain words, what PreciseGraves does with your information.
On your phone
Your photos, grave dots, names and notes are saved inside the app on your own phone. They are not sent anywhere unless you choose to upload or share them. If you uninstall the app or clear your browser data, anything not exported or uploaded is gone.
The holding spot (optional)
- Signing in: to use the holding spot, you type your email address and we email you a 6-digit code. The email is sent through a service called Resend. We keep your email address so you can sign in again. There is no password.
- Staying signed in: a sign-in lasts up to 180 days on that phone or computer, unless you sign out.
- Your files: files you upload are private to you. Only you can see, download or delete them when signed in. They are stored with Backblaze B2, a storage company, and are kept encrypted while stored.
- 90 days: uploaded files are deleted automatically after about 90 days, or sooner if you delete them.
- Share links: if you press Share, we make a link to that one file. Anyone who has the link can download that file until the link runs out, which is 7 days at most. Only send it to people you want to have it.
What we don't do
- No ads.
- We do not sell or share your information.
- No tracking or analytics tools.
Map pictures
The satellite and aerial pictures come from USGS and Esri. When the map loads pictures, those services see the request (such as your internet address and the map area), the same as when you visit any website.
Hosting
The website and app are hosted by Cloudflare, which handles the connection to your phone or computer.
