PreciseGraves

Other apps put the grave where YOU stood, not where the stone is. Photograph a west-facing stone, then an east-facing one, and the dots zigzag all over the row. PreciseGraves uses your phone's compass to put each dot on the stone, and lets you drag it right where it belongs.

How it works

1. Pick your cemetery, or add a new one.
2. Face the stone and press the big PHOTO button.
3. The app reads your GPS and compass and sets the dot a few feet ahead, on the stone.
4. If a dot is off, then drag it to the correct place.
5. Press Export to get one file with every photo, name and location.

Also great for anything you need to photograph and find again.

Everything stays on your phone. Nothing is uploaded unless you choose to.

Your photos are safe

With your free private holding spot:

• It's a backup. If your phone is lost or broken, or the app gets deleted, your photos aren't gone.
• It moves photos from your phone to your computer, where uploading to Find a Grave or BillionGraves is much easier.
• Share a whole cemetery or place with family or a cemetery board with just a link.

Your photos are private — only you can see them. They're kept for 90 days, then deleted.

Find a Grave, BillionGraves and similar sites only accept photos added through their own website or app. PreciseGraves keeps your photos organized and ready, so adding them to other websites is quick.

Put it on your phone

No app store needed. Tap Install on my phone above. If that doesn't work, open the app, then:

• Android: tap the ⋮ menu at the top right, then Add to Home screen (or Install app).
• iPhone: in Safari, tap the Share button (square with an arrow), then Add to Home Screen.

An icon will appear on your phone like any other app.
